All About Antitrust Litigation

For many people the mere mention of antitrust litigation conjure up the image of lawyers and accountants locked in fierce legal battle. However, the actual definition of the process is very simple.

Antitrust litigations a special set of litigation that aims to uncover and breakdown unfair monopolies in any market. The aim is to remove unfair and artificial barriers to market forces and ensure that everyone has a fair chance of doing business.

The main character of any antitrust litigation is the antitrust lawyer. San Diego, like other US cities is home to several large law practices that specialize in antitrust law. This law is an umbrella term for state and federal mandated laws that deal with market competition.  These lawyers are well versed in the intricacies of antitrust legislation.

Many businesses, regardless of their size and industry, shy away from antitrust litigation. While businesses do not wish to participate in any type of legal trouble, they are very particular about antitrust litigation for a very practical reason. The only winner in these cases is the antitrust lawyer. In San Diego, for instance, these litigations could get very complex and lengthy. After all the complexities and the long duration of the trail, the results are very unpredictable. The business could easily loose part of their holdings and are slapped by costly fines. In extreme cases, the courts could order a business to withdraw from a particular market altogether. This could result in the loss of all investments made in that market.

The law firms specializing in antitrust litigation depends upon the skill and expertise of their lawyers. In fact, the lawyers are more famous than the firms are. The firms depend upon the skill of these lawyers to prove that they have not been guilty of setting up unfair business practices.
